Yahaya Adoza Bello is a politician and businessman, born on June 18, 1975. He served as the governor ok Kogi State from 2016 to 2023 as a member of the All Progressives Congress(APC).
He is a graduate of accounting and business administration from Ahmadu Bello University. He had a very successful for many years before venturing into politics.
Born in Okene, Kogi State, he is the youngest of six children. He did his primary education at Local Government Education Authority(LEGA) Primary School, Okene. He had his junior secondary education at Agassa Community Secondary School, Anyava, Agassa-Okene. He attended Government Secondary School, Suleja, Niger State for his senior secondary education.
His political ambition has always been to bring about growth and development of Kogi State in particular and Nigeria in general.

Bello was born on 18 June 1975 in Okene, Kogi State, the youngest of six children. He began attending Local Government Education Authority (Nigeria) (LGEA) Primary School, Agassa in Okene LGA in 1984. Bello was named the class-two prefect, and was made the school's head boy in class six.

He attended high school at Agassa Community Secondary School, Anyava, Agassa-Okene, and obtained his Junior Secondary School Certificate Examination (JSSCE) and Senior Secondary Certificate Examination (SSCE) certificates from Government Secondary School in Suleja, Niger State, in 1994.

Bello studied at Kaduna State Polytechnic Zaria in 1995, and received an accounting degree from Ahmadu Bello University in Zaria in 1999. He received a Master of Business Administration degree from the university in 2002. Bello became a chartered fellow of the Association of National Accountants of Nigeria in 2004. He enjoys sport and fitness, especially boxing.

Political Career

Bello was declared winner of the 2015 Kogi gubernatorial election after he was chosen by the All Progressives Congress to replace Abubakar Audu, who won the election but died before the result was declared.

On 16 November 2019, he was elected to a second term after defeating PDP nominee Musa Wada by over 200,000 votes. Bello was the youngest governor in Nigeria at the time, and the only governor born after the Nigerian Civil War. Victory Obasi announced in 2020 that she would fund Bello's run in the 2023 presidential elections.

In Abuja on 2 April 2022, Bello declared his interest in running in Nigeria's 2023 presidential elections. He was supported by the Bello Ambassadors Network, a social-political group founded by Edogbo Anthony which had over two million registered Nigerian members.

Awards and Recognition

Torchbearer of Security Award

The Nigerian Union of Journalists has recognised the executive Governor of Kogi State, Yhaya Bello with the Torchbearer of Security, Award.

Presenting the award on Saturday, May 29, 2021, at the Kogi State Liaison House, Asokoro Abuja, the Chairman of the NUJ, FCT Council, Comrade Emmanuel Ogbeche, noted that it was important to reward diligence to duty as a means of encouraging good works, motivate and to spur the recipient into doing even more.

Governor of the year Award

Yahaya Bello of Kogi State in 2020 was given the Sun Governor of the Year Awards. His selection by the distinguished newspaper is an affirmation of his tremendous efforts towards rebuilding and securing Kogi State.

Role model award 20 may 2021

On the 20th of May, 2021, the Nigeria Union of Journalists honoured Yahaya Bello with a distinguished Role Model Award in education, for what it described as his outstanding achievements in education in his state in the last five years.
Icon of Security Award

The Association of Nigerians in Diaspora on Sunday 30 may, 2021, bestowed its “Icon on Security” award on Governor Yahaya Bello of Kogi State.
Speaking at the presentation of the award, the President of the association, Comrade Mathew Ochigbo, said that the governor was selected following his sterling performance on security in Kogi state.
